Nicole Kidman's father's death "absolutely shattered" her family. The Oscar winner's dad Antony passed away suddenly at the age of 75 last month, following a heart attack. The loss has devastated Nicole and her relatives, but she is trying to embrace his zest for life.
'We will live the way he lived. I had an incredible father'
"I've gone through a tragedy which has absolutely shattered our family," she told British magazine Grazia. "[It's taught me to] live in the moment because you never know what's going to happen. Dad lived like that. He would always say 'Nicci, don't worry, be happy'."
The 47-year-old attended her father's funeral with husband Keith Urban and her two children, Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret, by her side. She and sister Antonia hope to keep their parent's legacy going with their own families.
"He was a giver and that is what I hope he has given me and my sister. That's what we always say we will continue to do," she added. "We will live the way he lived. I had an incredible father."
Nicole spoke to the publication during the launch of Omega's new ladies watch, for which she is a brand ambassador. To deal with her grief, Nicole has been channelling her emotions into a number of writing projects.
"I have two screenplays that I'm in the midst of forming," she said. "I've had a very, very rough few weeks and a lot of the way in which I express myself is through writing. I don't know if I'm any good, but it's somewhere I can seek solace."
