The 33-year-old star has to put up with an interest in his private life thanks to his celebrity status. But while many A-listers, including Jennifer Lawrence and Kate Upton, were affected by the recent nude photo hacking scandal, something similar couldn't happen to Jake. "Haha, naked pictures of me? They don't exist - promise!" he laughed to German magazine Neon. And while fans might not be able to feast their eyes on a scantily clad Jake anytime soon, he still worries about how much access people have to his personal information.
‘Haha, naked pictures of me? They don't exist - promise!’
"We live in a time when privacy no longer exists," he lamented. "The government makes copies of our emails and phone calls and who knows what else?
"Unimaginable what could happen if this information falls into the wrong hands."
In his latest movie Nightcrawler, the star plays Lou Bloom who takes on the job of filming breaking news at the site of accidents. It makes a change to be the man behind the lens, since it's usually Jake who has to put up with paparazzi. Luckily, he accepts it as part of being famous.
"I'm happy for them to take pictures of me when I'm walking on the beach or leaving my hotel via the front entrance this evening," he shrugged. "It's part of my job. I'm used to it and it would be pathetic to complain about it."
Proving he's no one-trick pony, Jake also took the role of producer on the dark flick. He admits it felt good to take charge on set.
"Hiring people, then firing them and hiring them again, and then having a huge party on the last day - who wouldn't enjoy that?" he grinned.
