Obese pasta lover loses 57 kg in just one year – thanks to an app

An obese pasta lover who feared she was too heavy for furniture has lost an incredible 57 kg thanks to two-hour a day Instagram addiction.

Lindsey Awad (25) from Fort Winter Haven in Florida in the US would trawl through weight-loss pictures on the social sharing site to inspire herself when she weighed 128 kg.

She had piled on the pounds through takeaways and a penchant for pasta that saw her eating two double portion meals of it a day.

But the turning post came last year while furniture shopping with her husband Zak (38).

"We were looking for outdoor furniture for our new home, I was looking at one of the chairs," she revealed.

"It said there was a weight maximum of 300 lb [136 kg] and I knew that I was close to weighing that much.

"Then at another time me and my husband wanted to go skydiving but the weight limit was 250lb [113 kg] so I couldn't do it with him."

"Moments like these really embarrassed me and made me realise that my being overweight was holding me back."

She realised she had to make a change -- and discovered her inspiration to do so by following fitness gurus and other women trying to lose weight on Instagram.

She spent two hours a day on the picture-sharing app, following people who posted their body transformations and opened a page of her own.

She cut down her portion sizes, stopped eating meat and dairy and started exercising six days a week.

"There were times where I started to cry as I wanted to have a mac and cheese, but I never cheated the meal plan."

"After losing 15 lbs [6 kg] I started to cry, I was finally doing it and there was no way I was going to stop and go back to how I was before."

Now the pretty radiologist is unrecognisable at 73 kg and has an Instagram following of over 4 000 who she dispenses weight-loss tips and advice to.

"When I started on Instagram I had a few girls who I followed, they made me feel so motivated and want to get up to work out," the brunette beauty told MailOnline.

"I would spend a couple of hours a day on Instagram, looking at other people's transformation stories and it really helped."

"When I was discouraged I would look at before and after pictures online and they would keep me on track and remind me why I was losing weight."
