The 39-year-old and her 54-year-old beau were hiking at Vasquez Rocks in Santa Clarita, California, with the actress’ adopted son Jackson.
However, when Jackson threw a tantrum, another hiker decided to call the police and report that the pair were potentially mistreating the child, Cover Media has confirmed with the Parks Bureau of the LA County Sheriffs office.
TMZ.com details the incident, reporting that the female hiker had a camera, and approached the couple and the two-year-old when she heard Jackson screaming.
It goes on to claim that Charlize told the woman to stay away from her son. Following the incident, the hiker called the police.
Once the police arrived, they were quick to discover that there was no ill treatment of Jackson.
The deputies ascertained that Jackson was put on a “time out” by his mother, and got himself in something of a state during the period, according to TMZ.com.
Once they confirmed that there had been no physical contact, the police left, with no further action planned to be taken.
Charlize and Sean have only recently returned to Los Angeles following a lengthy period in South Africa.
The pair have been in the country for the last few months filming new movie The Last Face, which Charlize stars in and Sean directs.
The film also stars Javier Bardem and tells the story of Charlize’s international aid organisation leader character, who falls in love with a relief doctor.
After leaving South Africa, the couple enjoyed a brief pit-stop in Paris, France, en route back to Los Angeles.
