Prince William and Kate's wax figures unveiled

accreditation

New wax figures of Britain's Prince William and his wife, Kate, have been unveiled.

The figures, which are on loan to Madame Tussauds in Washington DC from now until mid-November, cost £150 000 (R2,4 million) each and depict the royal couple wearing clothing they donned when they attended a gala dinner at the Belasco Theatre in Los Angeles during their first official visit to America and Canada after they married in April 2011.

Kate is clothed in a replica of the Alexander McQueen gown she wore.

The stunning piece clinches in at the waist before falling to the ground and the brunette beauty is seen clutching her purse in one hand.

Meanwhile, William has been immortalised in wax grinning and standing in his dinner suit with his hands crossed.

Madame Tussauds in Washington DC said, "We hope that they [the duke and duchess] are as delighted as we are; they have been really supportive throughout the whole process."

William and Kate are currently enjoying parenthood after welcoming their first child, Prince George, on 22 July.
