A Pretoria girls' school reportedly doesn't allow their learners to have natural hair -- and they've had enough.
By Monday morning more than 6000 people had already signed an online petition which asks the Department of Education to give urgent attention to the situation at Pretoria Girls' High School and take action against staff that have discriminated against Muslim and black learners. “Girls attending the school have been forced to straighten their hair; are accused of conspiring when standing in groups and face other intolerable comments and actions,” reads the petition which was started by Koketso Moeti. Some learners also claim that they are forbidden from speaking their home languages at school and are also told that they talk too loud.
My daughter has an Afro. It's the only way she wears her hair. Would she not be allowed at PTA girls? — Mmusi Maimane (@MmusiMaimane) August 29, 2016
