He’s famous around the world for being able to “cross over” to the other side and talk to the dead. Now, after a three-year absence, John Edward is set to return to South Africa in March next year for a three-city tour including Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban.
YOU got the chance to interview John telephonically recently and whether you believe in his ability or not, you have to admit the guy has a certain amount of charisma.
John – who loves South Africa and thinks we have a “wicked sense of humour” – says there are major misconceptions about what he does. “People often think I need to be the person to help them make the connection. That isn’t true,” he explains. He also says there’s the obvious negative aspect to what he does. “People say I take advantage of people. They claim people who come to see me are ignorant or stupid. It’s actually the opposite. And it’s not always about who you want to hear about. Other people and energies can show up.”
The most rewarding part of what he does is rather selfish, he says. “I love watching that moment when people get it. A person has this moment – you can even see the energy behind their eyes get brighter.”
Of course, we took the opportunity to ask him for a reading. But he says he doesn’t read for journalists because there’s no way we can be objective. “If I get something you’ll write something positive. If nothing comes through you’ll write something bad.” We try to explain that we understand and would be fair in our judgement, but John stays firm and won’t budge. Guess that means we’ll have to go to the show and hope he picks us. - Jessica Levitt Share your thoughts:
