Rachel Bilson's beaded baby gift

Rachel Bilson was reportedly gifted with birth beads during her baby shower. The 33-year-old actress is currently expecting her first child with her long-term beau Hayden Christensen, who she has been dating since 2007. To celebrate her impending motherhood, family and close friends of the star reportedly gathered at a private home in Los Angeles on Sunday to throw an intimate 'do. Famous pals including Natalie Portman and Rachel's Hart of Dixie co-star Jaime King are said to be among those who attended.

'Each person gave her a piece of advice and a blessing along with the bead'

Rather than bringing the usual presents, guests reportedly took inspiration from an African tribal tradition by each contributing to a necklace.

"Instead of gifts, everyone brought a birth bead," an insider told Us Weekly. "Each person gave her a piece of advice and a blessing along with the bead.

"She will use the beads for strength during labour."

To thank them for their company each guest is said to have left with treats including mints and tea, enclosed in boxes reading 'Rachel & Baby, Mint to Be'.

"She's wanted [to have a baby] for a long time and is going to be an amazing mom. Everyone is ecstatic for her," the insider added.

One person who has already shared her delight at Rachel's pregnancy is Jaime. The 35-year-old actress is a mom herself to ten-month-old son James, who she has with husband Kyle Newman.

"Her best friend has a kid and she has a lot of friends with children, so I'm just there to support her however I can and honour and respect her processes," Jaime previously said. "She loves James, she's always bringing him toys. Just seeing her with my son, I know she's going to be the best mother."
