The David Gresham Entertainment Group confirmed reports that the Mbongo Zaka and Sheba Ngwan O rapper was hijacked at around 1 am in Kyalami, Johannesburg on 12 August.

The 24-year-old, whose real name is Barbara Wedi, was driving home from gig at Cantare, a venue at the entertainment centre.

According to a statement by the company, Rogue was badly beaten during the hijacking, "with severe bruising to her face".

Her car was stolen and later recovered, the company added.

Rouge has cancelled upcoming TV and live performances in Johannesburg and Cape Town with immediate effect.

Only a week ago, Channel24 interviewed the vivacious young musician on Facebook Live.
