Sad news for AB de Villiers

accreditation

The Proteas caption will not take to the pitch with his team in the upcoming home ODI series and away Test series against Australia.

AB de Villers has been ruled out of all upcoming matches because of a persistent elbow injury.

Surgery is the "only long-term solution", team manager Dr Mohammed Moosaje said in a statement, revealing the 32-year-old cricket star failed his most recent fitness test.

The skipper will likely be out for eight to 10 weeks while he recovers.

"The target is to hopefully have him back for the Sri Lanka home series over the Christmas period," said Moosaje, a doctor himself.

"We have tried the conservative management of rest, physio, rehab and cortisone infiltration into the elbow, but that has not yielded the results that we would have liked."

AB has yet to make a statement after Cricket SA's disappointing announcement. But the father of one took to Instagram to wish his wife Danielle happy birthday yesterday.
