Sad news for Marc Anthony

accreditation

The 48-year-old singer's split from his 28-year-old wife was revealed last month, a day after Anthony and his ex-wife Jennifer Lopez hit headlines by sharing a lip lock while performing at the Latin Grammy Awards.

Marc did not comment on the separation reports at the time, but the estranged couple has now released a joint statement to GossipCop.com about the marriage breakdown.

"After much consideration, we have mutually and amicably decided to end our two year marriage," it reads. "We ask for privacy during this difficult process, and no further comments will be made from either one of us about this personal matter."

The statement emerges a few days after Marc's father Felipe Muniz opened up about the split, suggesting the singer may still work things out with Shannon.

"He's going through tough times right now, but he knows how to accept what comes out of this," Felipe told Telemundo Puerto Rico's Dando Candela in a recent interview.

Asked if the pair was getting a divorce, Felipe added: "There's nothing concrete like that."

Their romance began about five months after the singer split from J.Lo, and they dated on and off for two years before Marc's proposal in March, 2014.

Marc was previously married to beauty queen Dayanara Torres and finalised his divorce from Jennifer, with whom he has eight-year-old twins Max and Emme, in June, 2014.
