Since his sister became Her Serene Highness Princess Charlene of Monaco the Wittstocks have become part of the royal family, Sean Wittstock tells YOU’s Alet van Zyl after he received the YOU Spectacular Great South African of the Year award on Charlene’s behalf.
His phone is bugged for his protection and he must obey royal rules when it comes to his private life, which means no Facebook or Twitter profiles.
The Wittstocks have to maintain decorum at all times so there’s no getting tipsy in public. It’s probably a small price to pay to live such a luxurious life.
The lives of the Wittstock family took a royal turn when Charlene and Prince Albert’s relationship became official six years ago.
Mom Lynette now lives in a huge five-bedroom house just outside the principality to be close to her daughter. Dad Michael still lives in Benoni for the time being – though he has acquired various business interests thanks to his ties to Monaco.
Sean’s older brother, Gareth (29), has been living in Monaco for the past two years and shares a flat near the palace with his British girlfriend.
Sean is in the process of getting a helicopter pilot’s licence so he can fly the prince and princess around whenever they’re in South Africa. And then there’s all the Grimaldi family celebrations they get invited to.
