Simon Cowell: Baby brings energy

accreditation

Simon Cowell’s Los Angeles pad feels “more like a home” since the arrival of his son.

The X Factor creator welcomed baby Eric with girlfriend Lauren Silverman back in February. Simon took a reporter from the Irish Mirror on a tour of his sprawling Southern California mansion, which boasts pictures of the mother and child. And he says the place is now bursting with energy thanks to their seven-month-old infant.

‘And I guess there is a new energy, yeah. It definitely feels more like a home. There’s more of a nice atmosphere’

“His room is the most colourful room in the house – until he reaches seven. Then he’ll be like me,” Simon told the outlet, referencing his penchant for decorating in black and white.

“And I guess there is a new energy, yeah. It definitely feels more like a home. There’s more of a nice atmosphere,” he said.

The TV mogul says it's much more noisy these days as well. But he admits he’s fortunate that Eric has so far been a “very happy baby”.

“It’s definitely louder,” he said. “Not to the point where everybody thought I was going to be getting up at five in the morning and all that kind of stuff.

“He’s been a very, very happy baby. The other night I heard him cry at 4.30 in the morning so I went up to see him and within five minutes he was back to sleep, happy again. Definitely a happier house.”

Simon’s home features four bedrooms in addition to the nursery. The place he loves most, however, is his home cinema - something he'd wanted to have for decades.

“That’s something I dreamed of as a kid – it’s my favourite room,” he said.
