Singer Katie Melua had to have an operation to remove an unwelcome guest from her ear -- a jumping spider, who had settled himself in there for more than a week!
The 30-year-old crooner revealed her bizarre ordeal on her Instagram account, complete with pictures if the offending arachnid post-extraction, and the earphones she thinks were responsible for helping him in there in the first place.
Katie was alerted to the creature's presence by a persistent "shuffling" sound in her ear and went to the doctor, who had to remove the spider with a micro-vacuum cleaner. “Though the thing looked TERRIFYING up-close on the doctor’s camera, once he took him out it was pretty small, and now it’s in this little test tube, alive and seemingly fine,” she captioned a picture of the spider in a plastic container. "I used these old in-ear monitors to block out sound on a flight," she wrote alongside another photo. "A little spider must have been in them and crawled inside my ear and stayed there for the week." Ironically, one of Katie's hit songs is called Spider's Web.
