The 23-year-old singer and songwriter has achieved impressive levels of success in his own right, earning Grammy nominations for his hits. Now he plans to help other hopeful musicians reach the top of the charts by launching his own company, with initial help from his current label Warner.

'I’ve set up the label and I’m going to start signing people'

“The door has now been opened, I’ve set up the label and I’m going to start signing people,” he told UK newspaper The Sun. “It’ll be an imprint that goes through Warner. But I’ll get the rights back in about ten years.”

The Give Me Love hitmaker has not yet named his label, but has given it some serious thought. Given that he spends his life surrounded by music, he already knows who he’d like to bring on board.

“I’ve got my first signing in mind,” Ed revealed. “I’m looking at people like me, who came through the singer-songwriter scene.”

He plans to make a move on the passion project while he’s working, and later give it his full attention. The star will embark on a tour in 2015, and says he’ll be working on this in his breaks rather than relaxing.

“I’m going to focus on this when I’m on tour next year. Hopefully the acts will be up and running by the time I take time off,” he told the publication.

The British musician’s own career was launched after he appeared on Taylor Swift’s Red album and wrote songs for boy band One Direction. His fame quickly escalated, and he wants to use his notoriety to help others aspiring to break in.

“I’m in a really fortunate position to be able to break acts,” Ed added.
