"They were dropped off at the SPCA in Pretoria on Friday. It was captured on the surveillance cameras," the dogs' owner Dick Coetzer said on Monday.
"The three are fine, but they are so traumatised. I don't how they [the women] handled them... and I don't know why they didn't bring the others back."
Coetzer was concerned about and afraid for his two missing dogs -- Rooi and Lilo. He believed they may have been taken for breeding purposes.
He is offering a R5000 reward for their return, and has opened a case of theft at the Villeria police station.
Last week, the Rekord newspaper reported that two women posing as Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) inspectors went to Coetzer's home and questioned him about the huskies.
"They started asking questions such as where the dogs slept at night and why their ears were bitten by flies," Coetzer reportedly told the newspaper.
"They also asked me why one of the dogs' eyes were teary."
According to the newspaper, Coetzer told them the animals' beds were under a carport and that he had made an appointment at the local vet to take care of their ears and eyes. The women told Coetzer they would return in a week to check.
"But an hour later they came back and claimed they spoke to the SPCA head office and they were told to take my dogs and treat their ears and eyes free of charge," he was quoted as saying.
"I told them that I would pay for this, but they insisted on taking the dogs with them for free treatment."
When they did not return with the dogs, Coetzer reportedly contacted the Tshwane SPCA and was told they were not employees.
Tshwane SPCA spokesman Korkie Levanon could not be reached for comment on Monday.
