
On Tuesday morning, the National Prosecuting Authority issued a formal summons for Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan.
NPA head Shaun Abrahams said at a press briefing that a summons had been issued for Gordhan, former Sars commissioner Oupa Magashula and former deputy Sars Commissioner Ivan Pillay, EWN reported.
The charges relate to Pillay's early retirement.

Fin24 was at the Open Tender Seminar in Midrand, where Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan was when news broke. This was his response:
"I received a phone call from my family that someone had come to my house to issue the summons this morning.
“These people know who my lawyers are and they know to make arrangements with them for me to receive summons.
“South Africans must ask who the Hawks are they really serving?
"Where [are] the Hawks getting their instructions from?"
