Taylor Swift named 2016's richest celebrity under 30

The Blank Space hitmaker's latest Forbes title shouldn't come as a surprise to fans as she was already named the highest-paid celebrity of the year in July, and the highest-paid woman in the music business earlier this month, thanks to her hugely successful 1989 album and world tour, as well as various endorsement deals.

The new poll places the 26-year-old far ahead of her closet rivals, One Direction - they switch places on the list this year. Taylor's ex-boyfriend Harry Styles and his bandmates banked $110 million (R1576 million) in the year ending 1 June, 2016.

Soccer superstar Lionel Messi rounds the top three with $81.5 million (R1166 million).

The top five also features Adele at four with $80.5 million (R1152 million), and Rihanna, who earned $75 million (R1073 million).

Justin Bieber comes in at six with $56 million (R801 million); and The Weeknd is ninth with $55 million (R788 million).

Other notable names on the list are Jennifer Lawrence, Hollywood's highest-paid actress, who takes 12th place with $46 million (R659 million), and Drake, who made $38 million (R544 million) to land at 17.

Bieber is the youngest member on the countdown - at 22, he narrowly beats One Direction's Styles by a month.

The 30-strong poll, which features a host of athletes, collectively earned an estimated $1.5 billion in the past year, before taxes and fees.
