The best beauty products to cross my desk

One of the best things about being a beauty blogger is that brands often send you exciting new products to play with. Still, if you’re given a very expensive new night cream infused with the essence of unicorn horn for free, it’s all too easy to rave on about its fabulousness. The real test as to whether a product’s a “goodie” or not is to simply ask whether you’d buy it again for yourself.

Thus, I thought I’d share a selection of the best that have crossed my desk; products I’ve recently reviewed and would only be too happy to toss in my shopping basket. I think you’ll like them too and, better yet, none of them are going to give your credit card post-traumatic stress syndrome.

TRESemmé Keratin Smooth shampoo and conditioner (R78,99 each).

Infused with keratin to strengthen and silicone to smooth and seal, TRESemmé’s new shampoo and conditioner promise to keep your hair frizz-free for up to 48 hours. They’re also low in sulphates (foaming agents) so it’s not going to fade hair that’s been coloured or irritate sensitive scalps.

I really liked that these products left my hair easy to brush while wet and then, when it was dry, my locks looked shiny and sleek but weren’t weighed down in the least. The only downer is that they’re not available in smaller bottles. But hey, on the bright side, I can work on biceps with a few dumbbell curls in the shower.

Avon Speed Dry + nail polish (R97,95).

If, like me, you’re always rushing from one place to the next and don’t have time to wait around, you’re going to love Avon’s new polish. Two coats dry to the touch in a flash, so much so that within just two minutes after painting you can rummage around in your bag without having to stress about messing up your paintwork.

L’Oreal Paris Colour Riche Le Kajal eye pencil (R129,95)

The sweet peeps at L’Oreal sent me their new False Lash Wings mascara and while I liked it, I was way more impressed with the eyeliner it came with. Weirdly, the fact that it’s a big, chubby stick makes it a lot easier to handle. I also like that the actual kohl bit is nice and long so you can lie it across half your eyelid and drag it along to make a neat, precise-looking line. If, like me, you’re a bit rubbish at using eyeliner, consider this little darling; it really does make things easier.

Clicks Tissue Oil body lotion (R59,95)

Clicks’ own brand tissue oil is a total goodie. In fact, if you’re using regular body lotion, make a plan and swap it out for this one as you’ll get a lot more bang for your buck. Think silky-textured hydration plus a host of nourishing natural oils, skin-smoothing retinyl palmitate and circulation-boosting ivy.

Now tell me, did you spot anything you’d like to try? Tried and want to share? Chat to me in the comments section, I’d love to hear your thoughts.

Love, love
