The collab we never saw coming! Iggy Azalea wants to team up with Taylor

Iggy Azalea apparently wants to collaborate with Taylor Swift. The Australian rapper has topped charts with hits like Problem with Ariana Grande, Black Widow with Rita Ora and Booty with Jennifer Lopez. And it appears she has someone new in mind for another joint track, in the form of country music darling-turned-pop star Taylor Swift.

'I had to really campaign and get everyone on my side'

Iggy says she met the singer in an elevator at the MTV Video Music Awards and thinks she’s a “bada*s”, according to Entertainment Tonight.

While Taylor hasn’t spoken about the potential for a collaboration publicly, the singer recently made a major switch in her career with her upcoming album 1989, marking her official debut as a pop artist.

She opened up earlier this week about the struggle she faced convincing record label bosses it was the right decision after spending years carving out her career as a country music artist.

“I had to plead my case with everyone and certain people at the record label. I had to really campaign and get everyone on my side,” she told UK newspaper The Sun.

“I showed them that I was doing this for all the right reasons and that this was the creative decision and artistically there was no other option than to boldly hone this album for what it is.

“I had to convince my Nashville record label president it was right for me. I presented the album to him and he said, ‘It’s great, it’s the best thing you’ve ever done but can you put two country songs on it?’"

Taylor refused. Eventually her persistence paid off, and executives couldn’t be happier.

“He’s happy as a clown now as we then got our first Hot 100 number one with Shake It Off,” she gushed.
