There's something very special about these rescue cats

They were just five weeks old when they were found wandering along the side of the road in the Blue Mountains of New South Wales, Australia.

But the compassionate couple who found them immediately noticed that there was something wrong with their eyes.

Realising that the kittens didn’t have eyelids the couple contacted their local RSPCA, who quickly confirmed that the pair suffered with a rare and debilitating eye condition that would render them blind within a year without corrective surgery.

Fast forward six months and the plucky pair, now called Dora and Felix, were finally given eyelids to call their own, having undergone an eight-hour operation at the Eye Clinic for Animals in Sydney.

Despite their difficult start to life Dora and Felix are happy, affectionate nine-month old kittens. Patrick Jones from the RSPCA, who authors a blog called Portraits of an Animal Shelter, describes how each of the cats have their own loving personalities.

"Dora is living life boldly, and with her newly grafted eyelids, can better see the smiles she puts on the faces of everyone she meets.

"Felix continues to make mischief and demand cuddles from all he meets; with a purr as loud as a lion's, Felix is devoted and demonstrative in his love."

It is now hoped that someone from the NSW area comes forward to give these sweet kittens the loving home they so obviously deserve.
