“The Law Faculty at Stellenbosch University (SU) is pleased to announce that Advocate Thuli Madonsela, recently retired Public Protector of the Republic of South Africa, has accepted an offer to take up a chair in social justice in the Faculty,” the university said in a statement.

She is apparently taking a break in 2017 and will take up her new position at the university after her sabbatical. There she will lecture students on “issues of social justice – including administrative justice”.

According to Thuli, she feels ready to take up her new post. “I am supremely honoured by the offer of the chair in social justice by the University of Stellenbosch.

"I hope to work with my colleagues at the Law Faculty to play our part in accelerating the pace of achieving the constitutional promise of an inclusive society based in social justice, shared prosperity, friendship and peace.”

She also added that she is especially excited to work with young people on these matters.

Matie students made their excitement about the new appointment known on social media and are clearly over the moon about the new appointment.
