Titanic replica to set sail in 2016

accreditation

A replica of the Titanic is to be created and is due to set sail from Southampton to New York in 2016. Billionaire Clive Palmer has revealed plans to create Titanic II with the "same design and facilities" as the legendary vessel - which famously sank on April 15, 1912 after hitting an iceberg - ahead of its maiden voyage from Southampton to New York in 2016.

Speaking at a press conference, he said: "The area [for] passengers will be authentic with the same design and facilities.

"But there will be modern things such as air conditioning and other features we are debating - such as internet on the ship.

"There won't be TVs in the state rooms, though."

The replica ship will carry 2,600 passengers and employ 900 crew members, and unlike the original Titanic, there will be enough lifeboats for everyone should disaster strike again more than 100 years later.
