Top Chef: the competition is fierce!



Top Chef SA is taking the country by storm. Two chefs have already been told to pack their knives and leave. Twelve chefs remain hopeful to win the coveted title, but 11 more will hear the dreaded words that will end their dreams.


This week’s guest judge is South African model, actress, MC and television presenter Sinazo Yolwa who currently presents Real Goboza, a celeb gossip show on SABC1.

As guest judge, Sinazo assists judges Neill Anthony, Lesego Semenya and Lorna Maseko in judging the Elimination Challenge. Each team of four cheftestants work together to prepare a four-course meal within three hours.


The judges are looking for menu cohesion and outstanding dishes. Which team will prepare the best dish and who’ll be eliminated next? Tune into Top Chef SA on Tuesday at 8 pm to find out!

Devin Gregory Hogan, head chef and owner at SMAK Delicatessen and Restaurant in Cape Town;

Annemarie Robertson, executive chef at Burrata, Bocca & Open Door in Constantia;

Hezron Louw, co-owner and chef at the Sumting Fresh Food Bus and Gourmet Street Food Company;

Martine Christian, executive chef at Escondido Tapas in Johannesburg;

Themba Tebogo Bawuti, sous chef at La Mouette in Cape Town;

Ayabonga Gope from The Deckhouse in Cape Town;

Sachin Gosai, head chef at The National in Parktown North, Johannesburg;

Phillip Nel, chef de partie at Rust en Vrede in Stellenbosch;

Paddy Khuele, chef at Thrive Cafe in Vilikazi Street in Soweto;

Kim Crystal Clement, owner of Urban Eatery and Central Pizza in Pretoria;

Lebogang Mpuang and Linda Nirina Mazibuko, co-owners of Blackcurrant Food Concepts, an events and catering company as well as a food consulting and training company.
