Tori: Dean’s very brave

accreditation

Tori Spelling has labelled Dean McDermott as “brave”. The 41-year-old former Beverly Hills, 90210 star and her actor husband have been putting their tumultuous marriage and personal lives on show in her reality series, True Tori. And she has praised him for being so open about his mental crises. Dean admitted recently that he has suffered from depression and even contemplated suicide.

'There was so much more than just the man that cheated on his wife'

“That was a difficult time,” Tori told Extra TV’s Mario Lopez. “Obviously the world knew that my husband had had an affair. What they didn't know was that he was suffering from depression. There was so much more than just the man that cheated on his wife. There was so much behind that. I think he's very brave for sharing that with people."

There have been many ups and downs within their marriage, as seen on their Lifetime show. But the blonde beauty claims things are back on track even following her husband’s admissions of infidelity.

“We're doing really well,” she explained. “You know, it's day by day and we're working really hard on our relationship. We're committed to each other as a family.”

Her bond with her mother Candy Spelling, however, is apparently less than satisfactory. Tori and Dean have made it clear on numerous occasions that there’s a rift in the family, and she confirmed they’re not through the worst of it.

“With all due respect to the relationship, I don't really want to get into details, but it's not a relationship that's thriving at this moment,” Tori stated about her mom.

The current season of True Tori is almost over. Even though Dean has indicated an intention to not take part in a second season, his wife made it clear the show is not over and that she’ll go on alone if necessary.

“I don’t think so. For me, it’s True Tori. I have a lot more to tell,” she told America’s The Meredith Viera show, adding that doing reality television is “cathartic” for her.
