Much-loved Diaan Lawrenson has officially said goodbye to her fellow cast and crew on the set of 7de Laan.
On Thursday the soapie shared a moving video on its Facebook page in which Diaan was surprised with a farewell party.
In the video you can see Diaan, playing the character Paula van der Lecq for the last time, waiting for the cameras to roll in what is probably one of her last scenes.
Suddenly 7de Laan’s theme song begins to play and confetti rains on a dumbfounded Diaan.
Then tears flow as other 7de Laan actors – including Christo Davids, Theodore Jantjies, Melanie du Bois and Corné Crous – say their goodbyes.
Diaan announced in April this year that she would be leaving 7de Laan and moving to Cape Town with her husband, Jody Abrahams, and their children, Olivia and Thomas.
The actress will soon take up a post as a lecturer at the Afda Film School and plans to complete her masters degree in television and theatre.
Other actors have announced in the past few months that they’re leaving 7de Laan. In an exclusive interview with YOU Melanie du Bois (Felicity) said she was leaving the soapie after 13 years.
Jo de Silva (Gita), Christo Davids (Errol), Corné Crous (Kim) and Anelisa Phewa (Sifiso) have also let it be known their time on the 7de Laan set is almost over.
