The three dads are about to make legal history in South Africa when they take their case to the Equality Court.
They feel the Office of the Family Advocate and the police discriminate against fathers.
“Is it too much to ask for a father to see his child and build a normal relationship?” a despondent Herman asks. In the past two years he’s been able to spend only about 50 hours with his seven-year-old son.
“And we’re not the only ones. There are thousands of fathers in the same position.”
