Wife falls in love with the au pair

Michele McFarlane (37 at the time) seemed to have it all – a loving husband, three beautiful, talented children and a happy, stable marriage that was the envy of all.

Then the pretty brunette developed an eye condition that affected her sight so badly she would run into trees when she played ball with her kids on their smallholding. Worse, it was no longer safe for her to drive.

So she hired an au pair to fetch and carry the children and entertain them – but less than a week later her life was thrown into turmoil.

Michele felt a surprising attraction to 24-year-old Marizette with her spiky hair – first when they wrestled on the judo mat and both their hearts beat faster as they pinned each other to the floor, then simply when they passed each other in the house.

She tried to distract herself, arranging for the family to go on holiday and throwing herself into caring for her mom when she was diagnosed with cancer.

After months of agonising Michele finally succumbed.

And after only one night with Marizette the fate of all five members of her family was sealed. She now knew she was gay and no matter how high the price she was no longer willing to live a lie, she says.
