Amanda Bussell (53) of Bredasdorp could not believe her luck when she was told she was the winner of a kitchen makeover to the value of R30 000 by Willowton Group, producers of Wooden Spoon margarines.
Competition entrants had to find a Wooden Spoon icon hidden in one of the recipes featured in the food pages of YOU and Huisgenoot magazines four weeks in a row to stand in line for the prize.
A keen, self-taught baker, Amanda is looking forward to making special birthday cakes and cupcakes for her two-year-old grandson in her gleaming new kitchen with its granite tops, ultra-modern fittings and bright, white finish.
Her husband and three adult children are also more than happy to sample her mouth-watering quiches and tarts.
“As a family, we enjoy our food and are all into cooking and sharing recipes,” said Amanda, who often tries out recipes from magazines.
She first used Wooden Spoon margarine when discussing with a friend how to achieve the purest white icing for a cake, because yellow margarines never quite achieved the glistening result she was hoping for. She tried Wooden Spoon white margarine on her friend’s recommendation and has used it ever since.
“I use it in all my baking now because, apart from the whiteness and flavour, the texture is excellent and it is easy to incorporate with other ingredients,” she said.
“Our Wooden Spoon white and yellow brick margarines are full fat for a creamy, buttery taste. They are ideal for baking, icing and cooking and are approved by the S.A. Decorators Guild.” says Hilton Cairns, National Marketing Manager of Willowton Group.
Wooden Spoon margarines are also suitable for general cooking and shallow frying and can be used as a laminate in puff pastry. The product is also suitable for scotch method pastry. For more information see www.willowtongroup.com.
