He was an amazing child, a boy who’d touched many lives. Kieran Schultz’s sudden and tragic death after losing his footing and falling off a cliff at the old harbour in Hermanus, Western Cape, has left deep and lasting pain in his parents’ lives.
“Yet if I could do it all again, even knowing what would happen, I would,” says actor Waldemar Schultz, the 14-year-old’s father.
At the family’s home in Somerset West, where candles burn and the air is perfumed with the scent of floral wreaths, Waldemar and his wife, actress Ira Blanckenberg, speak openly for the first time about the tragedy that’s turned their world upside down.
