The Hollywood star is putting it on the record: she’s not one of those women whose body bounces back right after having kids.
Speaking on the Happy Mum, Happy Baby podcast, Jennifer Garner (48) praised women “whose bodies, no matter how many babies they have, just go right back to that slim-hipped, no-stomach look”.
“That’s just not my gig. It’s incredible and I have so many girlfriends who have that physique and I’m so happy for them, but I am not one of them.”
She went on to reveal that she while she works out and can be “really fit, I will always look like a woman who’s had three babies”.
The actress, who has three children with her ex, Ben Affleck – Violet (15), Seraphina (12) and Samuel (9) – has always been open about her body, and last year even poked fun at rumours she was pregnant.
The incident happened after she shared a video on Instagram from her family’s farm in Oklahoma where she can be seen in a pair of dungarees and seemingly sporting a little belly. Fans immediately started asking if she was pregnant, which she quickly denied.
“I am 48, have three healthy kids, and am not – and never will be – pregnant. We can lay that puppy to rest," she replied, before joking that maybe she’d gained some weight during lockdown. “Have I gained the Covid-19? Possibly. But that’s another story.”
It’s not the first time Jen, who stars in the upcoming family comedy Yes Day opposite Edgar Ramirez, has had to shut down speculation. In 2014 she told talk-show host Ellen DeGeneres that she was not pregnant, but “there is a bump” and everyone just needs to “get used to it”.
“It’s not going anywhere – its name is Violet, Sam and Sera.”
On the podcast, she says she can’t believe the speculation “is still happening”. “One might as well take that bull by the horns. It’s just a body. Be grateful for it. It carried you this far. It carried babies for you. What else do you want? My goodness!”
