His face was the picture of surprise when musician Lenny Kravitz read his name out at the Grammy’s.

Standing up slowly, he held out his hands as if to say, “What, me?” while the audience gave him a standing ovation.It was Jon Batiste’s moment to shine. By the end of music’s biggest night in Las Vegas, he would walk away with five Grammys, living up to his nickname, the “crown prince of jazz”. 

Jon (35) was nominated 11 times in several categories. He won the awards for best American roots performance and best American roots song for Cry, best music video for Freedom, and best score soundtrack for visual media for Disney animated movie Soul.
