It was called "the wedding of the year" and since April Brooklyn Beckham and his wife Nicola Peltz have been basking in their newly wedded bliss.
Despite all the glitz and glam of their multi-million dollar union, none of it is enough to cover up what seems to be going on behind the scenes with their families.
Word on the street is Victoria Beckham, is feuding with her billionaire heiress daughter-in-law, who tied the knot just three months ago with her eldest son.
“There seems to be some sort of a distance between the Beckham family and the Peltz clan, and Brooklyn and Nicola appear to be drawing away from the Beckhams,” a source told the Daily Mail. “It's probably only natural, but they were very close to Brooklyn always.
“The Beckhams would not be the first parents to find it challenging when their children marry and get absorbed into someone else's family,” the insider added.
Rumours of a rift were further fuelled after Brooklyn ditched a European holiday with the rest of his family aboard a yacht and instead joined Nicola and her siblings while they celebrated her grandmother Bunny's 94th birthday recently.
While some claim his actions are just what you do when you marry into a family, others say it’s his own way of siding with his wife in the alleged squabble.
Insiders also claim Posh was reportedly unhappy when her son was dropped by top high-fashion brand Superdry, just eight months after she’d “pulled a few strings” to help land him the gig.
“It was supposed to help build his profile so he could start building a future for himself,” an insider told Heat, adding that both Posh and Becks have worked hard to “get where they are”.
“It's such a disappointment to see Brooklyn throwing away these opportunities,” the source says, adding that he couldn’t fulfil certain duties because “it didn't suit his schedule”.
“Superdry works with a range of brand ambassadors and enjoyed working with Brooklyn during the launch of our new flagship Oxford Street store and during our Autumn/Winter 21 campaign,” said a spokesperson for Superdry. “We always review the ambassadors who feature in our campaigns and decided to work with a different range of talent for Spring/Summer 22.”
Meanwhile, some fans believe Brooklyn taking on the Peltz surname might have been his way of distancing himself from “Brand Beckham”.
“He says it’s bittersweet being born with his name as it can hinder him from living life on his own terms,” a source told Heat. “He is very proud of his parents, but always feels like he’s carrying the weight of expectations with him as a member of the Beckham family.”
Or maybe Brooklyn just decided to take Nicola’s brother Brad’s advice during his speech at their wedding?
“Rule No 1: Happy wife, happy life,” Brad said during his ‘Man of Honour’ speech. “Rule No 2: Don't f*** up rule No 1,” he said, again driving home the 'Peltzes first' rhetoric.
WHERE DID IT ALL START?
News of simmering tension first surfaced after the lovebirds’ lavish multi-million dollar nuptials were hosted at the Peltzes' oceanfront mansion in Palm Beach, Florida. Nicola decided not to wear a single item from her fashion designer mother-in-law Victoria’s label, opting instead for Valentino. It was regarded quite a snub.
"The top table was all Peltzes and it really felt as though the Beckhams were not at the forefront," a source told the Daily Mail. “There was a feeling that the wedding was all about the Peltz family, as you can imagine, as it was their house and their daughter and their son making the speeches," the source added.
While the rumours continue to swirl, fans have also spotted a number of clues on socials that point to a rift in the family.
While all members of their clan are fairly active online – sharing everything from their luxurious holiday to what they’re eating – it’s been noted that Nicola hardly likes any posts made by her in-laws on Instagram and vice versa.
