Embattled megastar Britney Spears is calling out her “so-called support system”, slamming people closest to her for failing to support her when they knew she was battling her father’s conservatorship.
The Toxic singer didn’t mention any names, but fans are convinced she was referring to her younger sister, Jamie Lynn (30).
“How dare the people you love the most not say anything at all,” she wrote on Instagram. “Did they even put a hand out to even lift me up at the time? How dare you make it public that now you care . . . did you put your hand out when I was drowning?”
Britney recently hired a new
attorney, former federal prosecutor Mathew Rosengart, to represent her as she
continues her court battle against the conservatorship, which puts her life and
career in her father’s hands.
She has described being denied things as basic as her choice of birth control, coffee, her driver’s license and her hair vitamins. “If this is not abuse, I don’t know what is,” Britney said.
Jamie Lynn previously said she didn’t want to discuss her sister’s conservatorship but an insider told Us Weekly that privately, “she is 100% for #FreeBritney. She and Britney have always had this special bond as sisters. Jamie supports Britney and has been there for her, listening to Britney’s speeches, praying for her and sharing encouraging messages with her”.
Britney ripped into Jamie Lynn on social media. “I didn’t like that my sister showed up at an award show and performed my songs to remixes,” she said, apparently referring to her tribute performance at the 2017 Radio Disney Music Awards, which also featured Kelsea Ballerini, Sofia Carson and Hailee Steinfeld covering Brit’s greatest hits.
In the wake of Britney’s gut-wrenching court testimony in June, Jamie Lynn addressed her relationship with her sister.
“I think it’s extremely clear that since the day I was born I’ve only loved and adored and supported my sister,” the Zoey 101 star said on her Instagram Stories.
“I mean, this is my freaking big sister before any of this bulls***. I don’t care if she wants to run away to the rainforest and have a zillion babies in the middle of nowhere, or if she wants to come back and dominate the world the way she has so many times before. I have nothing to gain or lose either way. This situation does not affect me because I am only her sister who is only concerned about her happiness.”
Britney might not have the support
she’d like from family members, but she can count on one ’90s popstar – Backstreet
Boys singer AJ McLean, who has made it clear he is Team Britney, calling her
conservatorship “insane” and “completely brutal”.
AJ revealed that the last time he ran into Britney their exchange broke his heart.
“There's this amazing cupcake shop that she goes to, that I go to,” he said recently in an interview with Andy Cohen.
“The last time I saw her, it broke my heart. Last time I saw her, she was with a gentleman. I'm assuming it was security or maybe a driver.”
Britney didn’t recognise him at first and he had to introduce himself.
“And she just kind of had this glass face. Like, she just didn't know who was there. It took her a minute. And then she realised it was me and we hugged and we talked for a brief moment, but I could just see that this wasn't her. Like, I'm not looking at the person I knew from years and years ago.”
Britney’s next court hearing is on 29 September.
