Seems there’s more to Trey Songz’s recent arrest than not just wearing a mask.
The hitmaker found himself on the wrong side of the law while attending an AFC championship game in Kansas City, Missouri, when fans alerted security that he was not wearing a mask in line with the stadium’s protocol.
After security tried to intervene, the cops were called in where the 36-year-old got into a fight with one of them.
According to police, the singer refused to listen to them then punched an officer before putting him in a headlock.
However, several witnesses say the cop in question acted way out of line and was overly aggressive with Trey, who then retaliated.
According to one witness, the drama started when Trey was being heckled by some fans a few rows behind him. An officer approached Trey and without warning, went after him, the witness says. “Trey was totally caught off-guard when the officer got physical and started to defend himself.”
In a video of the moment, fans can be heard yelling at the cop to get off the singer and for the officer to be arrested.
More cops were called in until they had Trey under control. He was taken into custody and later released.
Last October, the Back Home singer revealed he’d tested positive for Covid-19 and encouraged his fans to take the virus seriously.
Less than two months later, a nightclub he was performing in in Ohio was shut down after undercover cops found more than 500 people unmasked and not socially distanced inside.
