Unlike many other stars, Cardi B has never shied away from discussing her plastic-surgery procedures.

And even though she's taken a lot of flak for having had work done, the WAP rapper says the enhancements have improved her self-image.

The 28-year-old recently told music icon Mariah Carey that she felt "so ugly and undeveloped" when she was younger but after going under the knife, she felt confident.

"Well, I'm from New York, right? And New York is a melting pot, especially where I grew up in the Bronx. I was really skinny when I was younger, and in the Bronx, it's about being thick and having an ass so young boys would be like, 'Look at your flat ass. You ain't got no t**ties'. And it would make me feel so ugly and undeveloped," Cardi said in an intimate conversation with Mariah for Interview magazine.

When Cardi became old enough to work as a dancer in a strip club, she used her earnings to get breast implants. “I could afford to buy boobs so every insecurity that I felt about my breasts was gone.”

By age 20, enhancing her butt was the next step in fixing her insecurities.

"I went to the urban strip club and you had to have a big butt there. So I felt insecure about that. It took me back to high school. So I got my ass done."

The plastic-surgery procedures helped Cardi feel like the best version of herself.

"Then I felt super confident. I feel so vindicated."

This isn’t the first time the rapper, real name Belcalis Almánzar, has had to defend her love of going under the knife.

In 2019 the Money hitmaker put detractors in their place in response to claims that she was “lazy” for undergoing liposuction and a breast augmentation after the birth of her daughter, Kulture Kiari Cephus (now 2), and that she should just “workout” instead.

But Cardi, who rarely holds her tongue, wasn’t having any of it.

“Listen, I do whatever the f*** I want to do with my body,” she said during an Instagram Live session.

“I don’t have the time of day like you do. Like, my job as an entertainer is a 24-hour job, bro. So no, I don’t have time to workout and I wanted specific things that I know that no matter how much I workout – is not get fixed.

“Like my boobs, no matter how much I workout, they were not gonna lift themselves,” she went on. “So yeah, I had to get surgery.”

But Cardi has since admitted she won’t have any more procedures done.

Two years ago, she cancelled several shows after not allowing herself to recuperate enough after her liposuction procedure.
