She’s one of Instagram’s favourite babies and fans loved how Kaavia James celebrated her second birthday in style, partying with her parents, Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade.

On her Insta page, @kaaviajames, her mom shared a picture of Kaavia about to leap into her arms, with the caption, “I’m 2 today. No biggie. Where’s the ribtips?”

To celebrate, Kaavia “enjoyed some delicious cupcakes that were so good that they were ‘hittin like a mail-in ballot’”, her parents captioned another pic of the toddler enjoying a baked treat.

“The light of our lives. The spark to our joy in dark times. The giggler of farts. The eater of alllll the food. The dancer to the jams. The smart, funny, adventurous, cutie that gave us a different kind of purpose. We ♥? you sooooo much @kaaviajames Happy Birthday babygirl ???????????? #ShadyBabyTurns2,” wrote mom Gabrielle on her Insta page.

Dwyane shared a slideshow of Kaavia growing up, and wrote, “November 7th was always a special day in my life because it’s my Mother’s birthday but now it’s times that special. Happy 2nd Birthday to my BOSS @kaaviajames??????aka Shady baby aka 2020 Meme Mood??Thank you for providing laughter and joy to our lives and so many other families!”

Gabrielle and Dwyane welcomed their first child together via surrogate in 2018 amid fertility struggles.

“A LOVELY DAY. We are sleepless and delirious but so excited to share that our miracle baby arrived last night via surrogate and 11/7 will forever be etched in our hearts as the most loveliest of all the lovely days. Welcome to the party sweet girl!” the couple announced on Instagram shortly after Kaavia’s birth.

Gabrielle shared her struggles with infertility in her 2017 memoir, We’re Going to Need More Wine, revealing she had eight or nine miscarriages.

“For three years, my body has been a prisoner of trying to get pregnant, I’ve either been about to go into an IVF cycle, in the middle of an IVF cycle or coming out of an IVF cycle,” she wrote.

“Towards the end of my fertility journey I finally got some answers, because everyone said ‘You’re a career woman, you’ve prioritised your career, you waited too long and now you’re just too old to have a kid and that’s on you for wanting a career’.

“The reality is I actually have adenomyosis,” the 48-year-old said. Adenomyosis is a condition that causes the endometrial tissue lining the uterus to grow into the muscular walls of the uterus, causing heavy bleeding and pain.

“The gag is I had it in my early 20s, and instead of someone diagnosing me they were like, ‘Oh you have periods that last 9 or 10 days and you’re bleeding through overnight pads? Not a mere inconvenience perhaps there’s something more there’.”

Gabrielle’s husband has three children from previous relationships – Zaire (18) Zaya (13) and Xavier (6).
