It wasn’t just a wedding, it was a birthday celebration too: screen legend Meryl Streep’s daughter Grace Gummer married DJ Mark Ronson on the day he turned 46.
The couple announced the happy news on Saturday 4 September, with Mark sharing a stunning black-and-white shot from their nuptials on his Instagram along with a loved-up message.
The event, which was held in New York, is believed to have been much smaller than originally intended because of the resurgence of the Delta variant of the coronavirus in the US.
After dating for almost a year, the couple became engaged in May, with Mark confirming the news on a Fader Uncovered podcast in June, in which he joked about their cheesy first kiss.
“There’s a plaque for that somewhere. There’s a first kiss, very corny Hallmark first kiss plaque.”
Just one month later, the two made their first red carpet appearance as an engaged couple at a Gucci event.
Grace (35) is the second daughter of three-time Oscar winner Meryl and her sculptor husband, Don Gummer.
Like her mother and sisters, Mamie Gummer (38) and Louisa Jacobson Gummer (30), Grace is an actress. She’s appeared in series such as American Horror Story and Mr Robot.
Mark, who was born in England, also has a rather illustrious family – his mom is jewellery designer Ann Dexter-Jones and his stepfather is Mick Jones, the guitarist for rock band Foreigner.
His siblings include DJ Samantha Ronson, designer Charlotte Ronson and stepsister Annabelle Dexter-Jones, an actress who has appeared in the series Succession.
It’s second time lucky for both Grace and Mark.
Grace had a brief marriage to musician and actor Tay Strathairn (40) last year. They filed for divorce in April 2020 just 42 days after they’d secretly wed, citing irreconcilable differences.
Mark married French actress Joséphine de La Baume (36) in 2011 but they divorced in 2018. Before that he was engaged to actress Rashida Jones (45).
