They’ve described their relationship as feeling like something “out of this world” and have become known for their “twin flame” love.
Now newly engaged Machine Gun Kelly is spilling the details about the sparkly engagement ring he presented to Megan Fox when he recently popped the question during a holiday in Puerto Rico.
Speaking about the design of the ring MGK, whose real name is Colson Baker, shared that the two bands which make up the ring are actually thorns.
“So if she tries to take it off, it hurts,” he told Vogue at the Dolce & Gabbana menswear fashion show in Milan, Italy. “Love is pain!”
But the piece has some less prickly parts too. Kelly got down on one knee and asked Megan to marry him with a ring that showed off both of their birthstones, an emerald and a diamond.
“It’s a thoroughbred Colombian emerald, with no treatment. It was just carved into the teardrop, straight out of the mine. And the diamond was directly from [jeweller] Stephen [Webster],” he told Vogue. “The concept is that the ring can come apart to make two rings. When it’s together, it’s held in place by a magnet. So you see how it snaps together? And then it forms an obscure heart.”
The lovebirds’ relationship began heating up after both admitted to having an instant connection on the set of their movie Midnight in the Switchgrass. At the time, Megan was fresh out of her marriage to actor Brian Austin Green.
“[I was] definitely open [to] love, but I did not anticipate walking right into my soulmate like that,” she shared in an interview with GQ, during which the pair also gave each other matching tattoos. “I was obviously over the way I had been living, and those paths lined up, those doors opened. It was [as if] all the obstacles that had kept us apart all those years had been removed and we were able to finally intersect.”
After dating for a year, Kelly proposed at the Ritz-Carlton Reserve's Dorado Beach location in Puerto Rico under the same banyan tree where the pair met just a year before.
The intense romance between the Transformers actress and the musician has been filled with PDA on the red carpet and the pair has made appearances while chained to one another and wearing vials of each other’s blood around their necks.
But for their engagement they decided to step it up a notch.
“Somehow a year and a half later, having walked through hell together, and having laughed more than I ever imagined possible, he asked me to marry him,” Megan shared on Instagram after their engagement news broke.
“And just as in every lifetime before this one, and as in every lifetime that will follow it, I said yes … And then we drank each other’s blood.”
