Another day, another racy picture of Madonna’s bits doing the rounds on the internet.
The Queen of Pop took to Instagram to share a series of images showing her scantily clad self exposing a nipple and her perky derrière. And while fans usually praise her for pushing the envelope and looking hotter than a Jalapeño pepper dipped in chilli sauce, this time they reckon the 63-year-old might have gone too far.
“This is getting kind of embarrassing now,” one user commented. “Your children must be so proud of you. Stop showing your ass.”
The fan added that while the Medellín singer was brave to publish her 1992 photo book, Sex, her current behaviour “is just classless”.
Another had some advice for the singer: “Instead of doing these ridiculous pictures, do some quality music as you used to do.”
It seems Instagram would tend to agree. Soon after the snaps were posted the social media platform took them down for apparently breaching their guidelines on nudity.
Some of the pics show the mom of six lying on the floor with her upper body underneath a bed. Her legs, clad in fishnet stockings, are spread as she exposes her butt.
In another picture the seven-time Grammy winner covers her nipple in a red heart emoji as she bares her breast.
Madonna later reposted the offending images but with her modesty covered with various emojis.
She then blasted the social media platform in the caption, writing: “I’m reposting photographs Instagram took down without warning or notification…the reason they gave my management that does not handle my account was that a small portion of my nipple was exposed.”
She continued: “It is still astounding to me that we live in a culture that allows every inch of a woman’s body to be shown except a nipple. As if that is the only part of a woman’s anatomy that could be sexualized. The nipple that nourishes the baby!”
Referring to Thanksgiving which the US celebrated yesterday, the pop icon added: “Perfectly timed with the lies we have been raised to believe about the pilgrims peacefully breaking bread with the Native American Indians when they landed on Plymouth Rock.”
Instagram's watchdogs weren't the only ones keeping a keen eye on Madge's account, a couple of celebs also took to social media to express their shock.
Former Good Morning Britain presenter Piers used a pun and said Madonna had hit ‘rock bottom’, while British talk show host Anneka Rice mused: “Madonna and I are exactly the same age. I presume she’s searching for her phone charger. If I tried that I’d never be able to get up again.”
British actress Kate Beckinsale (48) sent one of the pictures to her daughter, Lily Sheen, whose father is actor Michael Sheen (52), with the caption: “Do you think it’s too much that I posted this? The thing is, my ass looks good.”
To which Lily replied, “I’m a little confused, I must say. I do think it’s a little much but it’s also arty.”
When Kate eventually told Lily she was joking and that the pictures were actually of Madonna, the 22-year-old seemed relieved.
“I legit sat down to deal [with] that,” Lily, who’s also an actress, told her mom. “My co-worker came up and asked if I was on break.”
After Kate quipped that she was crying after her daughter’s response, Lily said she was crying “tears of happiness”.
“Like, for me, if you posted that, I’d be concerned,” she added.
But it’s unlikely that Madge’s eldest is concerned about her mother’s behaviour. Lourdes Leon (24) has been known to set pulses racing with some risqué snaps of her own.
Earlier this year the model shared several intimate photos of herself taken in bed. When Instagram removed the photos for violating community guidelines, Lourdes reposted one of the images.
“Just wondering if the guidelines are ‘must be basic influencer with no taste or style’ because I’m confused,” she wrote in the caption.
It seems like this apple doesn’t fall too far from the tree.
