A new husband and a new home! Seven months after her 13-year conservatorship was terminated, Britney Spears is hard at work building her perfect new life.
Just last Thursday the singer said "I do" to longtime boyfriend Sam Asghari in front of 60 guests, including her celebrity pals Madonna, Paris Hilton, Drew Barrymore and Selena Gomez.
But rather than jet off to an idyllic island for their honeymoon after their nuptials, the newlyweds were seen packing and getting ready to move into their new home, a mansion in the upmarket Californian neighbourhood of Calabasas that Britney bought for $11,8million (about R169m).
Britney and Sam reportedly purchased the house for a steal, saving nearly $4 million on the initial asking price.
They wasted no time in starting their new lives and Britney's white Mercedes-Benz and two moving trucks were spotted in the new mansion's driveway just four days after the wedding.
The property listing from real-estate agent Coldwell Banker describes the home as having seven bedrooms, nine bathrooms, a heated pool, a home gym, movie theatre and wine cellar.
The listing also highlights the home's grand marble floors, large kitchen area, and expansive backyard, complete with a large pool and a waterslide.
The house also boasts a room solely dedicated to gift wrapping.
The huge mansion also happens to be close to the home of Brit's ex-husband, Kevin Federline, where her sons Sean (16) and Jayden (15) also live.
Insiders say Kevin, who was wed to Brit from 2004 until 2007, is taking a wait-and-see approach to living so close to his former wife.
"Kevin was surprised that in all of California, of all the homes for sale, and all of the gated communities that are available, that Britney and Sam decided to choose the same one that Kevin lives in," a source says. "As long as their move doesn't invite paparazzi and a free-for-all, more power to her."
The singer might be snapping up luxury homes with her new husband but according to reports she's also determined to protect her assets.
Sources close to the newly married couple say they have an ironclad prenup in place and the fitness instructor won’t get much (if anything) from Britney should things go south between them.
“Britney and Sam signed a prenup in her favour,” a source claims. “Any money she made before the wedding is protected.”
The singer is worth a reported $60 million (R960million), and while there's potential for her to grow her net worth going forward, she'll retain her entire fortune should she split from Sam.
Her legal team were reportedly told to draft the legal agreement shortly after the couple announced their engagement in September.
The couple were first linked in 2016 after meeting on the set of the pop star's Slumber Party music video. They've been inseparable ever since, but Brit claims she was denied the right to wed throughout her 13-year conservatorship.
After the conservatorship, which put Brit's father Jamie Spears (69) in control her personal and professional affairs, was terminated in November last year, the pair were finally free to plan a future together.
Following their fairy-tale wedding and big more an insider says the pair are simply, "enjoying being newlyweds and settling into their new home."
"The wedding was everything Britney could have wished for and more," continued the insider. "She loved it all."
"They don't have a honeymoon planned yet, but Britney would love to take another trip."
