Ten months after actress Naya Rivera passed away in a tragic drowning accident, her ex-husband, Ryan Dorsey, has paid tribute to her.

The actor has a five-year-old son, Josey, with the late Glee star, whose body was found in Lake Piru in Ventura County, California, five days after she disappeared during a boat outing with the little boy.

"We can't say the word happy, but we'll say thank you for being a mother and giving me this sweet, amazing boy," Ryan said in a Mother's Day tribute on social media, along with a photo of Naya and Josey smiling together.

The Ray Donovan actor also honoured his mother with a sweet photo. "Happy Mother's Day Grammy. Thanks for all the support, unconditional love, all the help, your patience, thoughtfulness, and everything you do," he wrote.

It’s been a tough year for the actor. Josey was found alone in the boat Naya (33) had rented yet despite the trauma, Ryan says his son is a champ. “I couldn't be any prouder. At such a young age, he's endured more than anyone should at five years old," he says. "Without even fully realising it, he lives every day with his resilience.”

Ryan and Naya were married from 2014 to 2018 and welcomed Josey in September 2015. On Naya’s birthday in January, Ryan also posted a message to social media saying it was “surreal” she was gone.

Josey now lives with his father full-time and also gets plenty support from his aunt Nickayla Rivera, Naya’s younger sister. The 27-year-old model moved into a three-bedroom rented house with Ryan (37) where they are caring for Josey with the help of Ryan’s parents.

Though rumours swirled the pair were an item, source close to the star says he isn’t looking for love.

“Ryan’s whole world is Josey right now,” an insider says. “Ryan is still grieving and is very much struggling with the loss of Naya.

“Right now, he’s really laying low and staying out of the public eye so he can completely focus on Josey and try to figure out how to navigate this new normal.”
