It's not hard to see who the inspiration was behind Lourdes Leon's risqué video shoot for French fashion house Mugler.

The campaign sees the 25-year-old donning a beige bondage-style leotard that is reminiscent of the iconic cone-bra bodysuit her mother, Madonna, wore in 1990 for her Blond Ambition tour.

Madge's barely-there ensemble was considered provocative at the time as it defied the general definition of what made a woman's body beautiful.

Back then her brazen approach to sex and being sexy ruffled conservative feathers.

But she was unapologetic about it. “Art should be controversial and that’s all there is to it," she said.

And clearly the apple doesn’t fall from the tree.

In 2018 Lourdes raised eyebrows when she displayed her unshaved armpits and legs on the red carpet at the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Gala. Weeks earlier she walked the runway at New York Fashion Week with bodily hair on full display.

It’s another leaf she’s taken from her mother’s book.

In 2011 Madonna told Harper’s Bazaar how she had also “refused to shave” when she was a teenager.

“I saw how popular girls had to behave to get the boys,” she said at the time.

“I knew I couldn’t fit into that. So I decided to do the opposite. I refused to wear makeup, to have a hairstyle. I refused to shave. I had hairy armpits.”

Now Lourdes, who’s making a name for herself in the modelling world, has again turned to her famous mom for inspiration for the Mugler campaign, which also features other big names like Meg Thee Stallion and model Bella Hadid.

Although being Madge's child definitely has its benefits, Lourdes has revealed that her mother had strict rules for her and her siblings.

“We don’t get any handouts in my family,” she says, adding that Madonna has always encouraged financial independence.

“Obviously I grew up with extreme privilege. There’s no denying that. But I think my mom saw all these other kids of famous people and she was like, ‘My kids are not going to be like this’.”
