Australian actress Rebel Wilson has opened up about the biggest regret of her epic health journey, which saw her reaching her goal weight of 75 kg last November.

The Bridesmaids actress recently told InStyle she regrets she didn't attempt to shed the kilos sooner.

"Now that I know I can do it, sometimes I feel sad that I didn't do it earlier," Rebel says.

"Maybe I should have tried when I was 30, not 40. But everybody's journey is different, and it's not a race or competition."

The 41-year-old went on to encourage her fans to make positive changes to their lifestyle, regardless of their age.

"I have a natural empathy for anyone who struggles with weight issues because that's something I've always struggled with," she added.

"Obviously, I have access to some amazing high-tech treatments, but what I learnt is it’s really the little things that I do every day that make a difference.

“Anyone can go on walks and drink more water and do little, consistent things that’ll improve their lives. It's not too late to start, no matter what age you are."

Not that it hasn't been hard work for Rebel. She also spoke candidly about the persistence it’s taken to keep going and how hard she still has to work at it.

"[Every morning I’m] in the gym at the hotel working out for 90 minutes before a full day of filming. But that’s just my life now.”

During a recent appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show she spoke about being overweight for so many years.

“I was going all around the world, jet-setting everywhere and eating a ton of sugar,” she said.

“I think what I mainly suffered from was emotional eating and dealing with the stress of becoming famous internationally – there is a lot of stressful stuff that comes with it – and I guess my way of dealing with it was eating doughnuts.

“So, I was working on the mental side of things and thinking why was I doing that? And why wasn’t I valuing myself and having better self-worth?”

The Pitch Perfect actress, who split from her businessman boyfriend Jacob Busch in February, documented 2020 as her "year of health", losing 27kg through the course of the year.

Although she reached her goal weight seven months ago, fans were shocked to see she had slimmed down even more when she recently showed off her slender figure on Instagram.

Rebel flaunted her tiny waist and slender legs in a black bathing suit as she posed on the beach in Miami over the weekend.

Her health journey has inspired her to take a closer look at other parts of her life too, like her future in film. Although she rose to stardom as a comedic actress Rebel recently landed her first major dramatic role in the upcoming film, The Almond and the Seahorse.

“I'm excited to show people a totally different side of my acting range.”
