The talk-show host has had people worried since returning to her famous purple set for season 12 of The Wendy Williams Show.
The 56-year-old hasn’t seemed her usual poised, slick self, stammering through segments, breathing irregularly and mispronouncing words.
She called Adele “Hodel” and claimed people were “mealous” instead of jealous of the singer’s remarkable weight loss.
Earlier this month she burped on-air and seemed to have a hard time saying certain things.
It has fans concerned.
DJ Boof, the former music man on the talk show who was rumoured to be dating Wendy at one time, threw oil on the fire when he took to social media with a cryptic message.
“Y’all have no idea what’s really going on and everyone there is afraid to speak up because they don’t wanna lose their jobs,” he said. “This is going to play out bad. I feel sorry for the workers and victims,” he said on Instagram.
Fans weighed in. “I hope she gets help because honey she was a mess on Friday’s show.”
Another said her heart went out to Wendy. “Friday’s show was hard to watch. She’s been through a lot publicly. She needs some help to deal with her issues. It’s sad to see all she’s worked for come to this.”
This year has been particularly difficult for Wendy, who took some time out after her health complications escalated. She was diagnosed with thyroid condition Grave’s disease several years back and has bouts of extreme fatigue. She also filed for divorce from her husband of more than 20 years, Kevin Hunter, after finding out he fathered a love child.
She's also has addiction issues and in March last year she was booked into a sober-living residential facility, which helps users with alcohol and drug abuse. She shared the news with her fans on an episode of her show.
“I have been living in a sober house. You know I’ve had a struggle with cocaine in the past and I never went to a place to get treatment. There are people in your family, it might be you . . . I want you to know more of the story.”
Wendy, whose biopic is set to release next year with US TV network Lifetime, has been open about her drug use in the past – and fans are now wondering whether she may have relapsed.
