You can’t choose your family – or your in-laws for that matter. And no one is feeling that more right now than former Victoria’s Secret model Karlie Kloss. Karlie, who is married to businessman Joshua Kushner, brother to Ivanka Trump’s husband Jared Kushner, has made no secret of her frustration at the sight of Trump supporters storming the US Capitol Building.

“Accepting the results of a legitimate democratic election is patriotic,” she tweeted following yesterday’s pro-Trump protest that saw four people killed. “Refusing to do so and inciting violence is anti-American.”

When a fellow Twitter user responded to the fashion model telling her to speak to her powerful in-laws, Karlie simply said, “I’ve tried.”

Her exasperation come after President Trump was accused of inciting the angry mob to invade Capitol Hill in a last-ditch attempt to reverse the election results. Though he lost last year’s election to president elect Joe Biden, Trump has refused to concede. He’s even gone so far as to strong arm American Vice President Mike Pence to nullify Biden’s victory.

When Biden refused, Trump called on his supporters to go to congress to put an end to Biden’s certification ceremony. “Mike Pence didn’t have the courage to do what should have been done to protect our Country and our Constitution, giving States a chance to certify a corrected set of facts, not the fraudulent or inaccurate ones which they were asked to previously certify,” Trump tweeted.

“USA demands the truth!”

His supporters forced their way into the building before clashing with police.

Trump released a video thanking his supporters after the riot broke out, while Ivanka called them “patriots”.

More 50 people have been arrested and four people died in the chaos, which is considered one of the country’s worst security breaches.

Many celebrities including Ashton Kutcher, Amanda Seales and Debra Messing have condemned the incident, and this isn’t the first time Karlie has criticised Jared and Ivanka, both of whom are advisors to the President.

“I'm sure I'm not the only person in this country who does not necessarily agree with their family on politics,” she told Andy Cohen in an interview on his talk show.
