It’s been the year of celebrity break-ups. From Black Coffee and Enhle’s shock split to Lootlove and Reason’s break-up and DJ Zinhle and AKA’s relationship ending, love seems to be a losing game for 2020.

But if there’s one couple who’s going from strength to strength its Akani Simbine and Jo Prins. The South African sprinter was nursing a broken heart after splitting from his TV presenter girlfriend Abigail Visagie when he found comfort in the arms of the netball player.

Akani and Jo started dating last year and seem the perfect match. Here are 5 fab reasons why we’re crushing on this couple.

They keep fit together

Staying in shape isn’t a challenge for these athletes, but the pair love working out together. Despite working up a sweat, they always manage to look so glam!

They’re adventurous

When they aren’t hitting the gym for training they love travelling – preferably together. Last year the couple baecationed in Italy, enjoying the sun and sights as they explored the beautiful city.

They’re each other’s biggest fans

Having a supportive partner is one of the most important aspects in a relationship, and these two make sure they they’re for each other to celebrate milestones – like when Akani attending Jo’s graduation ceremony at Stellenbosch University last year after she completed her education degree.

They keep the romance alive

Between work, family and social commitments, life can get busy, but Akani and Jo make sure they take time out for regular date nights. From romantic suppers for two, to bowling or just hanging out together poolside, these two know how to keep the fires of love lit.

They give us all the feels

The couple don’t shy away from talking about love and marriage. When Jo graduated, she joked her lobola price would have to be increased and when the couple attended a wedding in Mauritius late last year, rapper Stogie T asked if Akani was in love. “[it’s] love love love big bro,” he admitted.
