She hadn’t set foot on home soil for 21 long months and there was much to be missed about the land of her birth.

Family and friends were top of the list, of course – but there were also the treats she often craved, like Cadbury’s Whispers and wraps from a homegrown retailer.

“They say home is where the heart is,” Demi-Leigh Tebow says, chatting to us from her room at the Table Bay Hotel in Cape Town, where she’s staying during her two-week break. “When I’m in America, a part of my heart is here, and when I’m here a part of my heart is there.”
