He hosts The Bachelorette SA, a dating show where contestants come to find their true love – but in real life Jason Greer already has his special person.
After 10 years of marriage, he’s as in love as the day he first laid eyes on his lovely wife.
Jason (41) met Ursula (43) back in 2003 at an exhibition at the Rand Show in Joburg where he worked as a stage manager and she as a dancer.
“She of course fell in love with me immediately,” he teases.
But after five years of dating the couple took a year-long break and Jason got a taste of the bachelor life.
“I had my own place, I had my freedom, I could come and go as I pleased, eat what I wanted and have friends round wherever I wanted. There are a lot of pros to being a bachelor,” he says.
“But the big negative is that you’ve got no one to share that with. You think that you’ve got your friends, but they’ve got their own lives and are going to find their own happiness.”
Jason and Ursula decided to then give their love a second try. Now 10 years and two kids – Cyan (8) and Sebastian (6) – later, the TV presenter says it’s the best decision he’s ever made.
“When you have a partner who’s invested in you and together you start making decisions, you realise why you’ve been put on the Earth and you have a real purpose in life – and that’s the best thing.”
So what’s the secret to their happy marriage?
“We haven’t perfected the art of the date night yet because the kids are still young but there’s always conversation and that’s quite easy to keep the spark going,” Jason tells us.
“I also bring her coffee in bed every single morning – it's the little things that show you care.”
