What a ride it’s been. When the Miss Universe crown was placed on her head in December 2019, a year of meeting people, going to far-flung places and sharing her message of love, peace and hope lay ahead.
But life had other plans. Instead of jet setting around the globe, Zozibini Tunzi found herself holed up in New York as the pandemic ran rampant. However, she made the best of it, leading online discussions and using her soothing voice and gentle wisdom to comfort people.
The pandemic also meant a delay in the crowning of her successor – and that means Zozi now holds the record as the longest-reigning Miss Universe ever.
